You know that show "Heroes"? You remember when it first started, and it was all "Save the cheerleader, save the world"? Well, somebody better save these cheerleaders. Because they are in big trouble. The cheerleaders of Nacogdoches High School in Nacogdoches, Texas staged a skit during a pep rally depicting them shooting the opposing teams' cheerleaders, execution style, in the head. Now, I've had a few sports rivals I wouldn't mind abusing, but that's kind of scary, and people are upset:
"More than 120 students have signed a petition protesting 'gun promotion' at pep rallies, but the school principal, Nathan Chaddick, called the skit 'simple, innocent satire' to boost school spirit, according to the Sentinel."
I can see where it might upset people. I can't say I entirely approve of this type of humor. I don't think guns are really all that funny. It's a serious weapon with serious consequences. I know this was all in fun, but if 120 students, at a school in Texas of all places, are upset by it, I think they are justified.
